Sofía Soberón is an artist based in Austin, Texas. She specializes in painting, drawing, and sculpting. Currently, she is pursuing her studies in the School of Fine Arts at St. Edward’s University. Soberón’s work explores the intersection of the natural and the surreal, transforming landscapes such as mountains, trees, figures, and bodies of water into abstract, dreamlike environments. Her art embodies intuition and physical engagement with materials, often incorporating gestural mark-making and direct contact with paint to create texture and movement. Sofía works to reflect her ongoing exploration of the irrational and the unexpected spaces where the familiar becomes strange and the abstract becomes alive. She continues to hone her craft through experimentation and study in Austin’s vibrant creative community.
